Hariri - February 14, 2005

This is the grave site of the late PM Rafic (Rafiq) Hariri in downtown Beirut. His assassination sparked the Syrian withdrawal from ... all ยป Lebanon and the shifting of Lebanese politics to a new era. Hariri was assassinated on valentine's day of 2005, in a massive explosion that created calls for an international tribunal and UN intervention.

Hariri was the Prime Minister of Lebanon for many years, and is credited for the construction of Beirut, and for returning Lebanon back to its touristic legacy. March 14 and March 8 were reactive political movements that resulted from the assassination, and they battled the future of Lebanon through their political parties, namely: Saad Hariri (Fututre Movement - Al Mustaqbal), Walid Joumblat (PSP - Ishtirakieh), Samir Geagea (Lebanese Forces - Ouwet), Amin Gemayel (Phalange - Kataeb), Michel Aoun (Tayyar), Hassan Nasralla (Hizbulla), Nabih Berri (Amal) and others.
